Eric F. Shaver is a Human Factors Specialist employed by Applied Safety & Ergonomics, Inc. (ASE)
in Ann Arbor, Michigan. ASE is a consulting firm that specializes in human factors engineering/ergonomics, product/occupational safety, and warnings/safety information.
In his current position, he is charged with the design and evaluation of safety information and instructions, litigation support, collaborating on the development of consensus
standards, and applied research. He received his Ph.D. in Ergonomics Psychology from North Carolina State University (NCSU) in 2004. He is a member of the American Society of
Safety Engineers (ASSE) and the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) where he has been an active member of the HFES Safety Technical Group.

Tonya L. Smith-Jackson is Director of the Assessment and
Cognitive Ergonomics Laboratory, an Assistant Professor of Human
Factors Engineering in the Grado Department of Industrial and Systems
Engineering, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department
of Psychology at Virginia Tech. She received a Ph.D degree in Psychology/Ergonomics
from North Carolina State University in 1998. Her research interests
range from Safety information presentation and comprehension in
occupational and recreational settings to Cognitive ergonomics (Application
of Human Information Processing principles to the design and evaluation
of systems).

William J. Vigilante, Jr. is a Human Factors Consultant currently employed
by RObson lapina in Lancaster, PA. Before than Bill worked for IBM Corp. in Raleigh, North Carolina. As a Human Factors consultant
within IBM, Bill has provided Human Factors support on a wide variety
of consumer and commercial hardware and software products, including
thedesign of IBM ThinkPad laptops and Options products, storage systems,software-configuration
tools, wizards, Web sites, and leading-edge wirelesstechnologies,
such as Bluetooth and Wireless LAN (802.11a/b/g). Bill has also provided
support in the development of IBM eXtensible Markup Language (XML)
Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) used in the creation
of IBM nformation deliverables. During his tenure at IBM, Bill has
served as the User Centered Design team lead for IBM ThinkPad and
Options divisions as well as the Accessibility team lead for the IBM
Personal Systems Group. Bill has also represented IBM on several cross-industry
groups, including the Bluetooth Special Interest Group and Intel Ease
of Use work group. In his spare time Bill, provides independent consultation
services as an expert witness in legal issues involving consumer product
design, as well as, safety- and warning-related incidents. On a personal
note, Bill is an avid amateur hockey player and a connoisseur of fine
imported and domestic beers. Bill received his Ph.D. in Human Factors
Psychology in July 2001 rom North Carolina State University in Raleigh,
North Carolina, specializing in consumer product warning and safety
design and Web-site usability.

Vincent Conzola is a Human Factors Engineer employed
by IBM Corp. in Raleigh, North Carolina. As a Human Factors consultant
within IBM, Vince has provided Human Factors support on a retail systems.
